Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 2 salted herrings
- 2/3 cup vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 5 peppercorns, crushed
- 2 tablespoons onions, minced
Recipe
- 1 soak herring overnight.
- 2 drain; skin and remove all bones.
- 3 mix vinegar, pepper, sugar, crushed peppercorns and pour over herring.
- 4 if the vinegar is very strong, dilute with water.
- 5 let stand for a few hours.
- 6 when serving, cut into 1/2 inch wide strips diagonally across fish and arrange on a dish to look like a whole fillet.
- 7 garnish with minced onion.
