Madame Soohoo's Fish And Rice (rice Cooker)

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 1/2 lbs fish fillets, broken into 2 inch pieces
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic or 2 teaspoons minced ginger
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaf, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brandy or 3 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 1/8 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 cups medium grain rice
  • 1 3/4 cups water

Recipe

  • 1 place the fish pieces in a shallow bowl or baking dish.
  • 2 whisk together the marinade ingredients (garlic through sesame oil), and pour over the fish.
  • 3 marinate for 20-30 minutes at room temperature, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator- no more than 4 hours, or the fish will get mushy.
  • 4 rinse the rice very thoroughly in a strainer, then place in the rice bowl.
  • 5 add the water, and stir to combine. place the fish pieces on top of the rice, then add any remaining marinade.
  • 6 set the machine for the regular cycle.
  • 7 when it switches to 'keep warm', let it sit for 5 minutes, then serve immediately.
